Garden Spot Marathon 2011

Hello lovelys,
2011 garden spot marathon is less than 6 weeks away! I ran this marathon in 2010 and it was insane! I put up a PR 3:40 marathon time despite the 50 degree weather but the winds made it feel like the 20's! I've never ran a course this hilly before. Up and down about a million times. At about mile 24, there is a hill that is so steep it just makes even the experienced runner wanna quit! When you reach the top,despite the burning in your quads and butt, you are so proud of yourself that you didn't walk! ( even if your pace dropped to a 14 minute mile......just kidding about that one :) There are not many aid stations, so if you are used to drinks,gel blocks,goodies etc.at every other mile or so-THIS IS NOT YOUR RACE! I carried gel blocks (the pink watermelon ones are my favorite) during the race! Finished about 3 packs by the end. Spectators are amazing! There are no real sidelines in the race but many fans drive the course and are cheering you on every couple of miles. Amish kids run up and down the fields next to you laughing and giving you a few words of encouragement! All in all, everyone has their own opinion about this marathon. I just love the open fields and breathtaking views! So if you are in the Pa area on April 9, sign up for the Garden Spot Marathon! I will see you there!

So this is the beginning...........

of a beautiful thing!  Hi, my name is Beth and I want to welcome you to my blog, Blondie on the Run.  Obviously, I am a blonde and I love to run. So naturally I will be talking about my life as a runner and all the different shades of blonde I like to be throughout the year! I do have some blonde moments every now and than but hey, it makes my family, friends and boyfriend laugh.  I've just learned to embrace those moments!  I will also be sharing my recipes, workout routines, race recaps, food and clothing reviews, and just some random tidbits about my everyday life.  Feel free to ask me any questionsor give me advice about the blogging world! Here is one of my proudest moments as a runner.  I ran a 50K in Blue Marsh, Pa in October 2010. Hard race but so much fun!!!
